Traditional Choral Eucharist at Church of Our Saviour -
For those who find comfort and support in the clear strands of our Episcopalian tradition woven throughout the service the 10:45 Eucharist will include the following:
· A thoughtful homely based on the Scripture of the day. Presented by our clergy and laity alike, these homilies explore the truths held within Scripture that influence our lives today.
· Our clergy and others in the altar party wear vestments as is our tradition. For nearly 20 years the parish has been investing in excellent quality, contemporary, hand-made vestments. These along with the traditional vestments that were saved provide a feel for the service that is both traditional and contemporary, formal and informal.
· Beautiful traditional music including an opening and closing organ performance and our full choir singing an anthem during the offertory and motet or soloist during communion. The repertoire of the choir spans the entire gamut of sacred music, and ranges from before Bach to more recently composed works.
· As always this service will be based on Rite II (contemporary language) containing the poetic prayers for which the Episcopal church is known from the Book of Common Prayer
The choir will be there, the liturgy will be unchanged, kids will pour in at the Offertory and, of course, the coffee hour will go on as usual.
